Life gets even better with each passing year.
Ready to celebrate another BIG 5-O milestone
Since I was 12, moving to New York City was my goal to attain, as immediately as life would permit. Having traveled from my birthplace, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Miami Beach on several occasions before our permanent move, passing through New York City was consistently a dazzling experience. It’s changed from that status. Opportunity forever abounds. I received a BA from Pratt, attended NYU grad school, and then became a fashion designer, a jewelry designer for many years with my own company, and an antique dealer for many years with two retail stores. There were also lots of other fun endeavors. My passion this past approximate decade has been the politics of lobbying and testifying for a multitude of issues at our capitol, Albany, N.Y. before senators, the Assembly and committees, and testifying before the NYC Council on issues in related fields at a global health conference as well as other NYC venues to achieving resolutions from 49 NYC Community Boards against toxic fracking in NYS, a focus of mine for many years. I’ve been a founding board member of NYH20. Many years ago we were the first organization to educate widespread awareness on issues relating to real time occurrences and outdated, incomplete studies and absent mandates. New York finally became the only no fracking state after multiple confirming evidential conclusions. Currently, I’m participating as Energy Committee Chair, an upstate community to become part of the county’s pilot program regarding CCA (Community Choice Aggregation), which would lower energy costs to municipalities to all residents of the county. But, hey, even more fun are our two accomplished, vibrant, and happy kids plus my constant sweetheart of 36 years, Buck Moorhead, A1A and certified Passive House Architect contributor to a multitude of civic associations and causes. Life rocks and so does the big 50th. And for sure, let’s all shoot for the 60th! This bash will be the ultimate performance art piece!!! As for my time at Beach High really, from then to now, a complete 180.
